En Rouge & Noir

The rose's story: an altered flower

For the art festival ''Traverses Florales'' we were asked to make short films about the flowers of the Morvan region and its biodiversity. I worked on the rose, immerging it in a dystopian universe where biodiversity would be instrumentalized and reduced to the humans creations.

The principle of the film is based on a forward travelling, going back through the history of this denatured flower. At the end of the tunnel, only the diversity and beauty of nature can unite us again.

I created a contrast between the elegance of the rose and the brutality of its story. There are only two colors: the red symbolizes the grace of the rose, the black represents the darkness of the environment where it evolves.
